NC House of Representatives
District 11
Efton Sager
NC House Representative
District 11
Dear Citizen:

As your Representative for House District 11, I will uphold the values of those that I have
been elected to serve.  There is nothing more important to me than having your trust.
Anytime a constituent has a concern I make myself available to listen, and if possible, work
out a solution to their concern.  I value the concerns of all the citizens in the 11th District
and will give equal consideration to the views of everyone.

One of the largest concerns of constituents in rural areas during the 2009 Legislative
session was involuntary annexation, and this is an area where I opposed the actions of the
municipalities. I personally feel the current law gives municipalities too much authority to
annex rural communities, without people living in those areas having a real voice.  I will
continue to work to see that this outdated law is reformed.

Currently the biggest concern for Wayne County is to get the economy moving and that
means creating jobs.  I am totally committed to working with all interested parties, and a
large part of this work includes working to insure that government becomes more business
friendly. Too many times government gets in the way of business by passing bad
legislation; therefore, before any new law is passed it needs to be very closely vetted, and
the question asked “will this hurt business?”

I am proud to say that during the 2009 Session I was rated as the fifth most conservative
member in the North Carolina House by the John W. Pope Civitas Institute.  I have also
received a high rating for my support of business issues.

I am proud to be a part of a delegation that allows every member to vote their convictions.
When the House Minority Leader announces what the Republican Caucus position is, a
member has a right to take a different stance, if based on strong convictions, he/she sees
the issue differently. This is in contrast to how the other party operates.  I have witnessed
times in the House when Democrat members walked off the Floor because they could not
support the stand of their party. I do not believe constituents of elected members are being
properly represented when a Representative ducks a tough vote.

It is a great honor to serve the people of the 11th District and I always welcome your
input.  I truly strive to be what the title of the office indicates (a representative) for that
reason please let me know how you view the issues. Sometimes the decision on a particular
issue is very close, and that is when it is so important to get your input. Please be assured
that I do listen.  There maybe times when we disagree and that is because I have listened to
everyone and have to make an informed and ethical decision based upon a strong conviction
of what is best for our community.

You may call me anytime at (919) 922-1484.  Additional contact information is listed on the
NC General Assembly Website.

Sincerely,

Efton Sager
