| Efton has served as a county commissioner for Wayne County the last eight years. He has previously served as an elected member of the Southern Wayne Sanitary District and was also an appointed Member of the Wayne County Board of Elections. He is currently serving his second two-year term as president of the East Carolina Council of Government. Efton is the president-elect of the Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross. He is a certified lay speaker for the United Methodist Church. Organizations he is association with include: Lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans, Member American Legion, Member Veterans Foreign War, Elks Lodge, the Masonic Lodge and A Gideon. He and his wife Deloris have been married for 55 years, and they have two children and two grandchildren. He has an Associate Degree in Business and is the Manager of a logging company. Efton is retired form the United States Air Force after 21 years of active service. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was awarded the Bronze Star in Vietnam. |
